How much is it to register and how?
£15 early bird registration until the end of July. £20 standard registration. Register online – www.bigissue.org.uk/walks
How much sponsorship do I need to raise?
We ask that everyone raises as much sponsorship as possible with a minimum target of £100 each.
The aim of the walk is to raise the much needed funds that allow The Big Issue Foundation to continue to give our vendors a hand up, not a hand out and support them on their journey away from homelessness.
Do we also need to register on the night?
The registration is from 11.30pm, the location of the registration point will be confirmed in your sign up packs. We won’t be taking sign-ups on the night.
What time is the walk due to start?
The walk is due to start at midnight.
How long is the walk?
10 miles, that’s just over 16 kms.
When will I finish?
However long it takes….most likely between 3.30am and 6am depending on your walking speed. Please be aware that not all forms of public transport may be running when you complete the walk.
How do we know where to go?
Everyone will get a map, there will be some volunteer marshals walking with you and some signs along the route at key points.
Where’s my map?
All walkers will be given a route map on the night of the event, we will be unable to disclose the route until the night of the walk.
Do I need to do any training?
It is recommended that you do some training before the walk. Walking 10 miles through the night is a challenge so make sure you are reasonably fit.
What do I need to bring?
Sensible shoes for walking
Warm clothing, remember you are walking through the night when temperatures can drop even in October
Wet weather gear – be prepared for the rain!

Can I leave a bag anywhere?
Unfortunately we do not have any secure place that we can leave bags.
Will we get refreshments on route?
Yes. We have checkpoints along the route where you can have refreshments and use a toilet.
