Spark reignited as £1.5M funding confirmed
Thursday 10th of December 2009 A £1.5million commitment by the Department for
Communities and Local Government Department towards funding the Spark social
enterprise programme has been confirmed today. The money will be used to fund the
Spark intiative until 2011. Spark helps social enterprises tackle the root causes
of homelessness, but as well as cash, the social enterprises selected for the
programme get business support from leading social enterprises, including Big Issue
Invest, TREES and Eastside Consulting, as well as private sector businesses
including BT and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). TREES CEO John Montague
said: 'The founding partners are currently undertaking a review and impact
measurement of the last two Spark programmes to establish how we move forward to
make the initiative even better, helping many more social enterprises to
succeed. 'Everyone remains fully committed to the Spark initiative, and
we look forward once again to kick-start the new campaign which is helping so many
social enterprises to make a real and long lasting difference within the homeless
sector.'
