What is the 100 Miles in July Challenge?

100 Miles in July is a fundraising challenge for The Big Issue Foundation. Join a supportive community taking on 100 miles throughout the month of July. You can complete your miles however you like – running, walking, or a bit of both! The important thing is to get out and get moving to raise money that will support Big Issue vendors to build better futures for themselves.

 

How do I get started?

First thing to do is join our Facebook Group, then you’ll be able to request your FREE challenge t-shirt, meet other amazing fundraisers, and get loads of tips and support on completing your challenge and raising money.

 

How do I collect donations?

Once you’re part of the Facebook group, you can set up a Facebook fundraiser from there. This will allow your Facebook friends to donate to your challenge through the Facebook website or app.

 

How do I get my t-shirt and how long will it take to arrive?

Register for your free t-shirt by clicking here!

We’ll get it sent out to you about 10 days from registration.

 

Do I have to be on Facebook to take part?

Yes, the 100 Miles in July Challenge is taking place on Facebook. If you’d like to do your own 100 miles challenge away from Facebook, please email us at foundation@bigissue.com

 

Can I be sponsored by someone who is not on Facebook?

If someone would like to donate to your challenge, but they don’t have Facebook, the best thing to do is to collect their donation offline and then donate it directly to your Facebook fundraiser yourself.

 

How should I track my miles?

It’s completely up to you! There are lots of great fitness apps available and we have created a group on Strava, or you could just keep track with a pen and paper.

 

How do I prove that I’ve done 100 miles?

There is no need for you to prove to us that you have done your 100 miles – we trust you! However, we would love to hear your updates about how you’re getting on in the ‘100 Miles in July for The Big Issue’ Facebook group.

 

I’m not able to complete 100 miles – can I still take part?

Of course, you can! This challenge is for everyone, and every mile you complete will make a difference. The most important thing is getting out there and raising vital funds for people living in poverty.

 

How will my fundraising make a difference?

Your fundraising will help The Big Issue Foundation create opportunities for Big Issue vendors, such as securing safe places to live and providing access to education and healthcare. To find out more about the services we provide, please follow this link.

 

Is there a minimum fundraising amount?

No, there’s no minimum fundraising amount. Every penny you raise in July will help support The Big Issue Foundation and its vital projects.

 

Can I start my miles before or after the beginning of July?

Yes, you can.
