The Big London Night Walk is one of The Big Issue Foundation’s flagship fundraising events, attracting over 2,000 walkers over the years and raising more than £700,000 to empower Big Issue vendors. This event is vital to raise funds for our work, and we are looking for corporate sponsorship to make this event as successful as possible.
If you think your company could benefit from branding with our event, then please get in touch. There will also be opportunities to get your staff involved and to speak about your company on the night. You can view our Big Night Walk Sponsorship Proposal here.
For 2020 we are planning a special edition of the walk which includes a longer distance of 25km to celebrate The Big Issue Foundation’s 25th anniversary and will take in new iconic sites around the city, including Big Ben and the London Eye. Starting and finishing in Shoreditch Town Hall the walk gives participants the chance to see many diverse and unique sides of London as we make our way through Camden, Marylebone, Soho and along the Southbank.
Participants also have the chance to hear from the people at the heart of our work before setting off as Big Issue vendors, past and present, share an insight into the important work the event supports.
We are expecting 400 people to take part in 2020 making it one of our largest events yet and are hoping to raise a total of £120,000. The event will be open to teams of fundraisers, including those from businesses, as well as individuals, who will be asked to raise £250 to take part.
The Big London Night Walk was founded in solidarity with rough sleepers who often find it safer to walk during the night than bed down on London’s streets. Many Big Issue vendors find themselves sleeping on the streets at some point, particularly in the first few weeks of selling. And these experiences are central to this event.
The money raised from the event will go towards ensuring Big Issue vendors have the opportunity to take positive steps away from poverty and exclusion. The Big Issue Foundation’s team of service brokers work with vendors to offer bespoke inclusive and non-judgemental support, such as housing, healthcare or supporting vendors to reconnect with friends and family.
