Terms and Conditions

  1. Any walkers under 18 need to be accompanied by a participating adult (over 18).
  2. It is a condition of use of our website that any person under the age of 16 using our fundraising services be appropriately supervised by an adult. 
  3. Your registration fee is non-refundable and no place is secured until this fee is paid.
  4. Upon registering you are committing to aim to raise a minimum of £100 (this does not include your registration fee). You will have two weeks after the event to finalise your fundraising. You will only be asked to make a donation if no effort to fundraise has been made.
  5. You must send all donations received through fundraising for this event no later than 4 weeks after the completion of the event. This should not be cash sent through the post. It may be in form of cheque, bank transfer or over the phone payment.
  6. If for any reason you choose not to take up your place in the event, all sponsorship forms and money collected must be forwarded to The Big Issue Foundation. You must inform us of this decision as soon as you are aware of it.
  7. The Big Issue Foundation has no responsibility to ensure that you are fit for the event. You must ensure that you have the appropriate level of fitness to take part. You must confirm that, to the best of your knowledge, you are currently in a good state of health and that you will not take part in the event unless you are in a good state of health at the time. If you have any health concerns at the time about taking part, you should speak with a doctor.
  8. You are taking part in the event at your own risk. Neither The Big Issue Foundation nor the organisers will have any responsibility for any risk, loss or costs which you incur in connection with the event and you will indemnify The Big Issue Foundation, the organisers and any persons acting on their behalf for any risk, damages, loss or costs arising as a result of your participation in the event.
  9. You will comply with The Big Issue Foundation guidelines when fundraising. Details of these guidelines are available on request.
  10. Any photographs taken during the event and given to The Big Issue Foundation of the event will be usable by The Big Issue Foundation for future publicity materials.
  11. You will be responsible for your own safety and you will comply promptly with all instructions and guidelines given by The Big Issue Foundation, the organisers and any persons acting on their behalf.
  12. You accept that the interests and reputation of The Big Issue Foundation are of paramount importance. The Big Issue Foundation may at any time and at its sole discretion, cancel the event, withdraw your place on the event or exclude you from the event.
  13. You give permission to use your name, photograph, voice, or likeness in any broadcast, telecast, advertising promotion, or other account of this event, or marketing, promotion for future or similar events and waive any rights of privacy that you may have had in that regard. Please email events@bigissue.com if you wish to opt out of this, or have any questions regarding this. 
  14. You must ensure that any content you upload onto the site (including photographs) is not obscene, offensive, defamatory or racist and does not breach any law or regulation or any intellectual property rights of a third party or any right or duty owed to a third party. This means that if any of the content you upload is copyright protected, you must obtain the copyright owner’s written permission in order to use it.
  15. Upon registration, you will be asked to give contact preferences. Should you opt in, the Big Issue Foundation would like to contact you to thank you for your support and, occasionally, to let you know about their projects and activities by post and telephone. They will not share your data and you can unsubscribe at any time.
  16. If you are taking part from outside the UK, you will be asked to pay an additional £5 to cover postage before your medal is sent.
