We have just been notified by the organisers that they have had to cancel this year’s Sleep Out at Pip n Jay. The organisers have been advised that due to the amber weather warning leading up to the Sleep Out that St John’s Ambulance can no longer provide First Aid support. Please do not turn up to the event. We will be sending an email out shortly but in the meantime, you can call 020 7526 3456 with any questions.
This Friday 2nd March 2018, we are once again teaming up with other homelessness organisations in Bristol for the annual Bristol Sleep Out for Bristol Homelessness Awareness Week. Participants will join hundreds of others to highlight the reality of homelessness and poverty in the city to support our work in the local area with Big Issue vendors. It's going to be cold and possibly wet/snowing on Friday night, but the event will be going ahead. Please see the FAQs for more information.
Last year’s team raised a fantastic £15,400 and Big Issue Foundation fundraisers will be taking on the challenge on this cold March night. Whether you are coming alone, or with a friends or colleagues, it will be an eye-opening experience that will make a difference to the lives of Big Issue vendors.
It will provide a small insight into what it might be like without a safe place to call home, and having to rely on the support of others.
You will need to be prepared for the night and here are the suggestions from the organisers of the nigh about what you should bring:
- Layers of warm clothing (thermal underwear if possible) and wear a hat and gloves.
- A cardboard or a roll mat to insulate you and keep you dry from the ground
- A warm sleeping bag
- Waterproof covering such as a survival bag
There will be plenty of warm drinks and snacks available overnight.
The event has sold out but we are running a waiting list. Please call 0207 526 3459 if you would like to register.
