We are pleased to announce that registration is now open forThe Big Night Walk 2017, taking place on Friday 3rd March 2017! After the success of the 2016 event, we are delighted to announce that it is returning for the seventh time!
This year we had more interest in the walk than ever before so are expecting the 300 spaces to fill up fast in 2017. We are encouraging those people who want to join us on the walk to register quickly to secure their places and avoid disappointment. The night promises to be a Friday night like no other, so don’t miss out!
On our last Night Walk, 300 walkers and Big Issue vendors gathered at St John’s Church Waterloo, home to one of The Big Issue magazines distribution points, ready to embark on a 20km night-time walk around the capital. The night started off in style with an inspiring performance from London City Voices and appearances from James Bowen & Street Cat Bob and former vendor Stan. This year will also feature motivational entertainment and speeches at the start from former Big Issue vendors.
“We thoroughly enjoyed the walk, speaking to the various Vendors and seeing London in a different light (well dark!). It really was a great experience.” Big Night Walk participant 2016.
This year the walk will be a brand new route, we will be starting at St John’s Church Waterloo again and rest stops this year include Conway Hall, Freshfields and University of Westminster, Marylebone. Full details of the route will be given on the night. Supporters will set off around 9pm, visiting various locations connected with our important work, whilst gaining personal insights from Big Issue vendors along the way.
Hot beverages and snacks will of course be provided at our rest stops, and we will ensure that your energy is maintained throughout the night! There will be inspirational videos and talks from Big issue vendors at rest stops along the way, to keep you motivated and inspired.
All the money raised from The Big Night Walk 2017 will support the vital work of The Big Issue Foundation we can help more Big Issue vendors in their difficult journeys away from homelessness. In the knowledge of this, you’ll be motivated to take every step until you reach the finish in the early hours on the Saturday morning.
