Last weekend, Weston-super-Mare celebrated its fourth annual Pride festival and the Big Issue Foundation were there to support this celebration of equality and diversity.
Two service brokers, Martha and Lewis, along with two vendors went along to support the LGBT+ community and set up a stall to raise awareness of the Big Issue and the Foundation, giving out information on our work and chatting with people about how they can support us.
Bristol vendor Damien sold in the town itself and was really happy to get out of Bristol for a change of scenery for the day. Local Weston vendor Robin was selling at the entrance to the festival itself. Both vendors had a great day and reported having really good sales!
We were also made a great connection with Brigstowe Project who were set up in the stall next to us. The Brigstowe Project supports people living with HIV, and have been invited to our next health week to raise awareness of HIV.
“It was a really great day,” said The Big Issue Foundation service broker Lewis. “It was a wonderful atmosphere and a great opportunity to show vendors are a big part of the community here.”
Next year’s Weston Pride event has already been scheduled for July 28, 2018.
