Which TBIF event is for you?

Over the course of the next year we have plenty of exciting and memorable fundraising events for you to get involved with in helping support The Big Issue Foundation. Ranging from walks to runs, cycling and more. Check out our latest range of events on offer below.


The Big Sleep Out is returning on Friday 17th November 2017 at our new location, The Kia Oval Stadium. This event will challenge you to abandon your comfort zone; you will be bedding down outside in the stands of the stadium. It will be cold and it will be challenging, but your efforts will ensure we can continue supporting Big Issue vendors who are facing poverty, exclusion, and homelessness. Throughout the evening you will be able to enjoy entertainment from The Adam Street Singers, our popular panel discussion with Big Issue vendors and frontline staff, and a screening of ‘Sleeping Rough’ – a community-based film raising awareness of street homelessness in the UK. The film features interviews with rough sleepers, members of the homeless community living in hostels and shelters, charity leaders and local council members.

The popular Big London Night Walk will return on Friday 2nd March 2018, starting and finishing at a new location – Shoreditch Town Hall. The unique 13 mile route will take you on a tour of the iconic sites of the city at night, with three rest stops along the way. Our 2017 walkers reviewed this event as “incredible, inspiring, thought-provoking and a definite would do it again event” and one supporter was “blown away by the amazing service, support, and incredible volunteers”. Also, you’ll get a chance to hear personal insights from Big Issue vendors before you start – this is not an event to miss!

On Friday 23rd February 2018, we are once again teaming up with other homelessness organisations in Bristol for the annual Bristol Sleep Out for Bristol Homelessness Awareness Week. Sleeping in the church yard of Pip ‘n’ Jay Church, supporters will face an eye-opening and memorable experience, highlighting the reality of homelessness and poverty in the city.

Registrations are currently not open but you can register your interest here and we will be in contact once it has launched for 2018. You can get an insight into the event below.


The Big Issue Foundation have a small but dedicated team every year for the Virgin Money London Marathon, and we would love for you to join Team TBIF in 2018. You will be given personal fundraising advice by the team, an enthusiastic cheering point on the day, and an official TBIF running vest to wear with pride. We have a limited number of spaces so register your interest here and we will send over our 2018 application form.

Is cycling more your thing? Join us for Ride London-Surrey 100 – the capital’s biggest cycling event encompassing a 100 mile route from Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, through the capital’s closed roads, into the Surrey countryside, and finishing in The Mall in Central London. Registration closes this month so you will need to be quick!


Looking for something different? Our next Big Jump is taking place on Saturday 16th September 2017 at two airfields – one near Salisbury and one near Oxford.  Join us by jumping out of a plane at altitudes of up to 10,000ft and at 120mph – a once in a lifetime experience you will never forget. Lastly, our most exciting challenge – The Big Trek at The Great Wall of China. This 10 day, 80km trek across The Great Wall of China is a demanding but rewarding challenge taking place on Friday 14th – Sunday 23rd September 2018.
