The Big Issue Foundation’s flagship event, The Big London Night Walk, has unfortunately been cancelled due to severe weather.
Stephen Robertson, CEO of The Big Issue Foundation, said: "We know how important it is for all of our supporters to come together to make a difference for people who are homeless across the country in these very difficult times however the health and safety of our participants is a priority and it is with deep regret we must cancel our biggest event of the year.
Our work continues regardless and I am hopeful that participants will continue to fundraise, despite the cancellation, in the knowledge that every penny raised is vital in our support work and the journey of change we try so hard to create for Big Issue vendors.”
Earlier this week, the Bristol Sleep Out also had to be cancelled due to the amber weather alert. It was estimated the Big London Night Walk and Bristol Big Sleep Out would have raised over £100,000 for the Foundation – meaning the loss of vital funds that would help continue our work supporting Big Issue vendors around the country.
We understand that this will be disappointing to those planning to take part however we greatly appreciate the fundraising efforts of our supporters. You can still walk to support The Big Issue Foundation this month by taking part in our Big Step Challenge. New for 2018, this fundraising challenge asks participants to walk 10,000 steps a day for two weeks from 12 – 25 March 2018 and can be completed from anywhere in the world!
