Big Birthday Sky Dive

This year The Big Issue Foundation is celebrating its 23rd birthday and we’re celebrating with The Big Birthday Sky Dive on 19th September 2018!

We’re looking for brave people to participate in this fantastic experience, fundraising as you go to support our work with Big Issue vendors like Matthew, who received bespoke support from The Big Issue Foundation to help him move forward away from poverty and exclusion.


Skid Row Marathon’s Judge Craig Mitchell joins marathon team

The Big Issue Foundation are excited to announce a new addition to our London Marathon team- LA High Court Judge Craig Mitchell.

An avid supporter of empowering people who are homeless, Judge Craig Mitchell coaches a long – distance running club made up of residents of LA’s infamous Skid Row.


A transformational partnership – now nominated for the Sports Business Awards 2018!

We are thrilled that our partnership with Southampton Football Club has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Sports Innovation Award at the Sports Business Awards 2018.

This is primarily focused around the opportunities the club has offered Big Issue vendors. This includes vendors selling a special edition of The Big Issue magazine (as part of the match day programme) at the first match of the season as well as four Big Issue vendors going on to secure jobs at the club following their participation in the Saints Foundation employability programme.

The Big Step Challenge raises over £10,000!

We're so pleased to announce that our first ever virtual event, The Big Step Challenge has been a huge success! Our fantastic participants raised over £10,000 which will help us to continue providing bespoke support for Big Issue vendors to move away from poverty and exclusion.


Determined Walkers!

Recently we were forced to cancel our biggest event of the year The Big London Night walk due to heavy snowfall. Since then, we have been overwhelmed with the support we have received from determined participants who have completed their own walks.


Winchester Churches Nightshelter take on the Big Step Challenge!

A team of staff and residents from the Winchester Churches Nightshelter are proudly taking part in The Big Issue Foundation’s Big Step Challenge, and we are so grateful!

The Big Step Challenge is our first ever virtual event where supporters can take part from anywhere in the country, using their phone, computer or fitness tracker.


London Homelessness Charity Group

In 2017, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan launched a campaign to end rough sleeping in London. For the first time he has  brought together 18 homelessness charities including The Big Issue Foundation to form a new coalition – the London Homelessness Charities Group (LHCG) – who all provide vital services for rough sleepers.


Big Issue Foundation Supports New Platform whatCharity

The Big Issue Foundation is proud to be one of the charities supporting whatCharity – a new platform launching today aiming to make it easier for the public to find the charities they wish to support.

Doing good shouldn’t be complicated and with this in mind, innovative platform whatCharity will launch on 15th March with a special What (London) Charity initiative.  Answering the strong public demand to find new charities to work with, improve transparency and engagement, and meet the rising interest in social impact – the fully mobile responsive site will provide efficiency, improve trust and deliver a smarter solution to charitable giving.
