We are absolutely thrilled that our partnership with Southampton Football Club/Saints Foundation won gold for the Sports Innovation Award at the prestigious Sports Business Awards 2018 last Friday.

This is primarily focused around the opportunities the club has offered Big Issue vendors including vendors selling a special edition of The Big Issue magazine.

Cyclist Mike Durham is completing a 1,000-mile ride in memory of his late stepfather whilst fundraising for The Big Issue Foundation. The challenge will take Mike from Land’s End to John O’Groats over a strenuous 12 day adventure, climbing over 48,000ft - the equivalent height of Mount Everest and Mount Kilimanjaro combined!

We were deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of much loved Big Issue vendor Kevin Headley. The 52-year-old who sold the magazine outside Hackey Wick overground station for many years died on 5th May 5 following a suspected heart attack.

Last year, Big Issue vendor Garry trekked 190 miles to fundraise for The Big Issue Foundation and raised an incredible £495. This year, he is taking on an even bigger challenge and is trekking from Land’s End to John O’Groats. We are incredibly grateful that Garry has chosen to give back to TBIF by embarking on this 1,150 mile trek.

We are very happy to announce that Bournemouth vendor Bill is moving on to a new career as a brewery tour guide at Southbourne Ales!

A former British Army medic, Bill spent several months living in a cave and then walking along the coast with his dog Chloe before becoming part of the Big Issue family.

This weekend saw the hottest ever London Marathon take place with record temperatures of 24 degrees. We had 7 incredible participants running for #teamTBIF this year and they all crossed the finish line which is a HUGE achievement – especially in the hot weather conditions.
