Want to find out more about the approaching London to Paris cycle challenge? Come along to our information evening on Thursday 18th August!
You may have heard about our upcoming London to Paris Challenge in which a team of dedicated fundraisers will be burning up the tarmac on a 4 -day cycling trip from London to Paris to raise money for The Big Issue Foundation.
You could be one of the riders spending 19th-23rd April 2017 cycling through beautiful English and French countryside between these two historical cities with a group of other like-minded individuals, raising money that goes towards allowing The Big Issue Foundation to continue carrying out its vital work helping vendors on their journey away from homelessness.
You don’t have to be an aspiring Olympian or super-cyclist to join; People of many different fitness levels sign up, and we provide training suggestions to help you prepare for the challenge!
The trip leaves London on the 19th April, and the first day is spent cycling to the famous White Cliffs of Dover via the scenic North Downs Way. After a ferry ride, and a night in Calais, the next two days are spent traversing the beautiful countryside of Northern France, taking in rural villages, riverside scenery and a market town. The route also passes through sites of importance from the First World War, including The Somme.
The triumphant approach to Paris comes on the fourth day (a chance to pretend you’re a rider finishing off a victorious Tour de France!), and picturesque countryside gives way to famous monuments as the finish line, the Eiffel tower, comes into view on the horizon. Tired and proud, the evening can be spent in some well-earned celebrations, and the last day of the trip is free for exploring the city (and obtaining evidence in the form of photos and souvenirs to prove to family and friends back home that you made it!). Then it’s back to London St. Pancras via the Eurostar where the bikes will be waiting.
The central part of this challenge is raising money through fundraising to support The Big Issue Foundation’s work. Because of this, we ask for a minimum sponsorship of £1,525 per rider. Our riders greatly enjoy the fundraising process, and we provide support to help you raise the money, and have fun while doing it!
